I’ve spent the last two days making the rounds like I was in the Pennsylvania Primary. And I have a lot to show for it, and have met a lot of great new people, too. So let me tell you about the new people who have signed up to post events on our site. First off, Adam Short and the good people at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. I met George and Adam back when I was at WBRU (we put George on the air for our first ever Oscar preview), and they were great to me during my own brief foray into the world of documentary filmmaking. It’s noce to be in a position to work with them again, and I think we’re going to be able to collaborate on some great events in the future. So they are set up with an account, which is great, because while a lot of people know about the Film Festival, we’ll be able to give them some exposure for all the other events they do during the year.
From there, I met Megan over at Miko Exoticwear. I had always passed Miko at its old location on North Main, but I did not venture in until they moved to the new Wickenden location. It’s great – a cute but classy erotic boutique. I’ve been back several times, but my purchases are between me and someone who isn’t you. Anyway, Megan runs all of the classes at Miko. We created a new category (“Sexuality”) just for her events and now she’ll be listing those on the site as well. (I’ll tell you a funny story about the Miko postings as soon as soon as I get to the point where I can look back on it and laugh.)
After that, I met up with Cristy from Ultra the Night Club and Snookers. She handles marketing for both clubs and shared some great firsthand stories about the FBI raids on MixItForMe.com. So both venues will now be listing their events here.
Finally, I met up with Mike Delehanty. Everybody in the local rock scene knows mike – he’s been booking shows around town for years. I know Mike from my WBRU days. These days he’s got shows at Lupo’s, Club Hell, the Living Room and a couple of places in Boston. So we set him up with an account.
Today, I dropped by McFadden’s to set up Steve, the manager. He’s one of those lucky Irishmen you always hear about (he recently won a trip to Vegas!). We’ve done a lot of events for Steve in the last year and he’s been very supportive, so we’re glad to have him up on the site.
I’m hoping to take a trip down to Newport later in the week to get some of our friends down there up and running on the site. -SR
