Yesterday, Inspiring Events launched the DiscoverYou: Holistic & Wellness Expo. Inspiring Events is the new division of WRIK Entertainment, the karaoke company (with the Arpeggio wedding DJ division) run by brother and sister Rick and Susan Lataille. Susan studied holistic health and this event has really been her baby from beginning to end. They asked me to help them with the marketing of the event.
The event could not have gone better. Thursday night, Olive’s on North Main hosted the VIP Party for the vendors. One of the great things about being in the event business is watching communities come together. Here was a group of like-minded busines owners who got to mix and mingle with people in a similar field. Because businesses in this field tend to be smaller operations, it’s sometimes easy to forget that there are lots of other people out there who also care about the same things that you do. So events like this serve as a great reminder that there is an entire community of people interested in holistic living. WPRO-AM’s Patricia Raskin, who hosts her show on Positive Living Sundays at noon, gave the keynote address.
I arrived early on Sunday and was there when the doors opened at ten. I expected people to trickle in, given that it was Palm Sunday. But as soon as the doors open, a steady stream of attendees started to flow through the doors, and it continued all day long. There were a number of great demonstrations on stage, from the opening gong ceremony to zomba to yoga to a drumming circle.
Many of the attendees commented on wide range of exhibitors. We had everything from massage therapists and chiropractos to health foods and gluten-free restauarants to green construction companies and eco-friendly boutiques. Many of the vendors had never been to the Twin River Event Center before, and people always comment on what a fantastic room it is. Overall, the events was a fantastic way for people interested in holistic health and related fields to connect with vendors in a relaxed atmosphere. And I even got a free reike treatment!
